Reputation monitoring: ongoing insight into what is said about you in Search and AI

General monitoring tools show you a long list of mentions without interpretation, and miss what AI says about you. We monitor eight categories (Google, AI platforms, reviews, news and media, social media, radio and television, forums and podcasts) with our own platform Reptor.ai, and link every signal to the service that resolves it.

What is reputation monitoring?

Reputation monitoring is the ongoing mapping of everything publicly available about a company or person: in search results, on AI platforms, on review sites, in the news, on social media, in radio and television broadcasts and on forums. The aim is not only to flag what is being said, but also to interpret what follows from it: which signal is an issue, which signal calls for action and, above all, what effect it has on the online reputation.

// what we track

What we monitor: eight categories

01

Google and Bing, search results and every part of Google

Organic search results for your name, autocomplete, related searches, images, "People also ask" and AI Mode. We track positions on the search terms that matter for your reputation: branded, expertise-related and topic-specific. We also follow the knowledge panel and changes on Wikipedia, because these feed through into both Google and the answers of AI platforms.

02

AI output from ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, Grok, Perplexity and Google AI Mode

What do the seven major AI platforms say about you on the most likely user questions? Which sources do they cite? How does the output change with every model update? This is the category that general monitoring tools almost without exception miss.

03

Review platforms

Google Reviews, Trustpilot, Tripadvisor, Booking, Klantenvertellen (a Dutch review platform), Glassdoor, Indeed, Yelp, app reviews in the App Store and Google Play, and industry-specific platforms. We flag not only new reviews but also deviations from the usual pattern, such as an unusual increase within a short time, a notable shift in tone or language, or suspiciously similar wording across reviews.

04

News and media

National titles, trade media, international coverage and regional platforms. For clients who are regularly in the news, such as executives, entrepreneurs and public figures, early detection is the difference between being able to give a considered response and answering in crisis mode.

05

Social media

LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Telegram (public channels). We follow mentions and wider conversations around your name or brand and, on request, specific accounts or groups that are relevant to your situation.

06

Broadcast: radio and television

Broadcasts in which your name or company is mentioned. Where transcripts are available, we monitor automatically; for specific programmes we provide a tailored solution.

07

Forums

Tweakers, FOK and Higherlevel (major Dutch forums), Reddit, industry-specific forums and, on request, Discord communities. Forum posts often rank high in Google and are a common source of reputation problems, particularly in the technology, financial and consumer sectors.

08

Podcasts

Dutch podcasts are automatically transcribed and searched for mentions of your name or company. For each mention you receive the sentiment and a timestamped deep link to the exact moment in the episode, so you do not have to listen to the whole broadcast.

// why now

Why AI monitoring is now essential

AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, Grok and Perplexity account for a growing share of how people (customers, journalists, recruiters, investors) find information about companies and individuals. Their answers are not stable: with every model update, facts, framing and cited sources can change. A hallucination that does not exist today can suddenly turn up in every chatbot conversation tomorrow.

That makes AI monitoring fundamentally different from traditional media monitoring. It is not a matter of collecting mentions, but of systematically testing what AI platforms answer to the relevant questions: weekly, across several platforms, with version tracking. General monitoring tools do this barely or not at all. We do, because we needed it ourselves to help our own clients properly.

How we monitor: our own platform Reptor.ai

We monitor with Reptor.ai, our own platform, developed in 2025 on the basis of what we had missed in general tools over 15 years of reputation work. Reptor combines monitoring of search results, AI, reviews, news, social media, broadcast, podcasts and forums in a single environment, linked to our services so that every signal can lead straight to action.

For detailed information about Reptor itself (features, dashboard and subscription options), please see reptor.ai. On this page we focus on what MediaMaze does with the monitoring, not on the tool itself.

// with the data

What we do with the monitoring data

Monitoring is not an end in itself; what matters is what we do with it. In concrete terms, we use the data in three ways:

Making the results of our work visible.

When we work for a client on a removal programme, a review case, an AI correction or a digital PR campaign, you want to see that it is working. Reptor provides the measurement per search term, per platform and per month, not as loose figures but in the context of what the programme set out to achieve.

Establishing a shared benchmark.

In a reputation programme, "better" only means something if you know what it is being compared with. For each client we establish a baseline at the start, and then measure continuously against that zero line. For clients on longer programmes, this builds up a multi-year picture of how their reputation develops, through quiet periods, through issues and through deliberately built campaigns.

Insight into what does and does not work per search term.

For each search term and each platform, we track what our interventions achieve. This is how we, not the client, learn what works best in which context. Which type of placement pushes a particular kind of article down the hardest? Which argument works best with Google? Which content format is most consistently cited by which AI? These insights refine our approach.

// the report

Sample report

The report shows, month by month, what has changed in the eight categories, which signals call for action, and how the scores on the tracked search terms are developing compared with the baseline. For programme clients, this is the instrument we steer by; for scan clients, it is the snapshot that shows where their reputation stands today.

// free scan

Free reputation scan: our entry point

As a low-threshold entry offer, you can request a one-off reputation scan. The scan maps what can currently be found about your company or name in the eight categories, with a focus on the most urgent signals.

How it works.

You fill in a form with the search terms that are relevant to you, usually your company name, any variants and, if you wish, your own name as an individual. Within 24 hours your scan report is online. For clients who come to us for a reputation programme, we handle the set-up ourselves, including an extensive intake and search term mapping, so that from day one the monitoring measures exactly what is relevant to your situation.

What it contains.

A baseline overview across all eight categories: current Google results, AI answers from the major AI platforms, recent reviews, news reports, social media mentions, radio and television recordings where available, and forum posts. No interpretation (that follows in an introductory meeting, if you want one), but a complete snapshot.

// ongoing

For clients who want to keep a structural overview, we offer ongoing monitoring on a retainer basis, if desired linked to an action programme (removal, review cases, AI correction or digital PR). During a no-obligation introduction, we outline the options and put together a tailored proposal.

// frequently asked questions

Answers to frequently asked questions

Google Alerts emails you (often only after a day) when Google indexes a new mention of your name. It misses all AI output, provides no interpretation and is not linked to any service. Reptor monitors eight categories, including AI platforms, and gives you only the signals that are relevant.

Yes. Many of our monitoring clients are executives, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, high-net-worth individuals or public figures rather than companies. The eight categories stay the same; the search terms are different.

You can set this yourself. Radio and television monitoring is real-time. Media monitoring, search results, AI monitoring, social media, podcasts and the other categories can be set anywhere from once an hour to once a week.

A monthly report on the state of affairs in the eight categories, a comparison with the baseline and the previous month, flagging of issues that call for action and, for programme clients, a link to the service that acts on them. In between, you receive real-time alerts for urgent issues, not for every mention.

We link it to the right service: a negative article to the removal route, a questionable review to our review practice, an AI hallucination to the AI correction procedure, and an authority gap to digital PR. No separate dashboards for you to interpret yourself: we flag the issue and take it on.
